What does the process entail? The refinisher will arrive in the morning and will start the process
by doing two separate chemical cleaning steps. If repairs are necessary they will be done and old caulk will be removed. The room will be masked to protect everything from the multiple layers that will be
sprayed on. The room is vented thoroughly with an exhaust fan. The process generally takes about six hours, then the finish needs to cure for 24 hours before it is used. When the refinisher leaves your home you
will not know that he has been there except for your beautiful new finish.
What do I need to do to prepare for refinishing? Simply remove your personal items from the area to be refinished.
If the tub or shower being refinished has glass or plexiglass doors, they will need to be removed before we arrive. What about color? Can I change the color of my tile or tub?
Yes, our finishes come to us from the factory in 3 standard colors but you can have virtually any color you want for a small extra
charge. You'll need to give us advanced notice for custom colors. Mike is a color whiz and can create any color you want. Just provide a sample and he will match it. Also ask about multi-spec
colors. How long will the finish last? A refinished bathtub or ceramic tile should easily last 10-15 years
with proper care and maintenance. In fact, many jobs done over 15 years ago still look great.
How durable is it? The refinishing
coatings used by PRO-FINISH are incredibly durable. Our finishes are designed to stand up to their intended use. However, just like a brand new surface, a refinished surface can be chipped or scratched if abused.
Will my tub or tile look painted? Most definitely not! In fact, most people would have a difficult
time telling the difference between a new tub and a refinished one. Refinishing is that good when properly done by our experts. How much does it cost? Prices vary but refinishing will almost always be a fraction of the cost of replacement. It can easily cost thousands to replace a bathtub when you consider the
cost of labor to remove and install. A typical bathtub will cost $375 and up to refinish depending upon condition. What if my tub is damaged? Small chips and cracks can usually be repaired during the preparation stage of the refinishing process. If there is just a single chip in a tub that is in
otherwise good shape, we can usually fill and refinish just the damaged area. With skilled color matching the repaired chip will be undetectable. PRO-FINISH is regularly called on to repair newly installed, but slightly
damaged, tubs or sinks for KOHLER, JACUZZI and other popular manufacturers. Larger damaged areas such as rust around the drain or overflow plate can also be repaired in most cases but we will need to inspect these to
give you a bid. Do you refinish antique tubs? Antique and vintage restorations are dear to our hearts. We love
reclaiming old tubs and sinks and giving them a new life. These restorations are generally done in our shop since they usually take considerably longer than regular refinishing jobs. Each one is unique so we must see
them before we can give you a bid. Is there a warranty? Bathtub, wall tiles and fiberglass tub/shower enclosures are warranted
for five years against peeling or other failure of adhesion of the coating. Complete details are included in our written warranty. |
